GEAR REVIEW - Stanley Mountain Vacuum Coffee System

Over the past several years my wife and I have spent quite a bit of time organizing our camping gear into four medium size plastic containers and are really picky on what goes and what stays.  It makes it so much easier when prepping for a trip and then cleaning up after a trip if you're only taking what works and will get used.

That said, as I was doing the last minute packing and loading of gear into the Element, I snuck in the Stanley 1.1 Quart Mountain Vacuum Coffee System into the kitchen container in hopes that we'd get to use it a few times over the weekend and even more importantly that it would be a worthwhile addition to "The Camp Essentials" gear list.  What we found from using it is that this will forever go with us camping.

The Mountain Vacuum Coffee System is an everything all-in-one way to brew a pot of coffee in the woods and then keep it warm for hours.  The thermos and pot are made of 18/8 stainless steel with press, two cups, and a storage area of coffee grounds.  All you need is a stove to warm your water and you're all set.

Here are a few images of the Mountain Vacuum Coffee System from last weekend at camp showing the step by step on it's ease of use.

The one photograph that I didn't get of the Mountain Vacuum Coffee System is that everything stacks together with the thermos nesting into the pot and press, the handle locking down on the side of the pot, and the cup screwing over the top of the second cup to store all together.

The Mountain Vacuum Coffee System is offered in two sizes with 17 Ounce and 1.1 Quart models and each are priced at $50 and $60.  Good camp coffee is essential and this is a piece of gear worth investing in.

Check out the Stanley website for more information.

  1. You mentioned a "Camping Essentials" bin - do you have a list of what is in that bin? I am building mine and interested to know what other people include.
