Scandalous Sticks "Pygmy Glass"

A few months ago Stephen Vance of Scandalous Sticks contacted me about a batch of glass blanks that he had uncovered through another rod builder.  The history of these fiberglass blanks is a little lacking but out of them Stephen has created the "Pygmy Glass" Series due to shortness of this little 5'6" four weight two piece blank.

I've been told over and over by several people that have been fishing the "Pygmy Glass" rods that though it may be quite short to certainly not under estimate the ability.  These rods have tamed large brown trout and are very capable casting fly rods.

The quality of Stephen's work as a custom rod builder is evident in all parts of this build.  It is a simple yet well done custom fly rod and matches perfectly in feel and balance with a Hardy Featherlight clicker reel.

I spent a little time last weekend in the yard with my new "Pygmy Glass" and was quite impressed at the power it had.  I wouldn't be to surprised if there wasn't just a little graphite in the DNA of these blanks but they feel like they're all glass once a little pressure is put on them.

I spoke to Stephen late last week and he still has a dozen of these interesting blanks left.  His price for the "Pygmy Glass" fly rod builds is $355 but he is willing to reduce the price for the T.F.M. readership to an even $300 for those that might be interested.

Stephen can be contacted by email to discuss a possible build.
