Some time ago T.F.M. reader and trout and smallmouth junkie Steven Hughes sent me a note that Elrod Custom Rods was building him his first fiberglass fly rod. Matthew Elrod's work on this rod was a blend of old and new and came out great.

Blank - Lamiglas FL965 - 8' Two Piece Five Weight
Seat - AmTak Infinity with coralwood insert
Grip - Mixed with burl cork with a modified Fenwick style grip
Guides - PacBay Stainless "Boat Rod" guide stripper
SF fly guides in hard chrome
Thread - ProWrap ColorFast in taupe with silver accents
Word is that Steven will be on the Davidson River this weekend hoping to break this fly rod in right on a big fish.
