Early this year I was tipped off on the soon to be launch of Howler Brothers and through a series of emails, perusing the website, meeting the fellows at IFTD, and then wearing some of their gear for the past nine months, I have became pretty well versed in what this new apparel company was up to and where they want to go.
The genesis in the Howler Brothers style is essentially a mix of one parts fly fishing, surf, and paddling culture tossed into a creative blender and out of that comes well done designs of comfortable wares made with high quality fabrics.
I am especially fond of the Aransas Shirt which I wore both color choices all summer long and found it as fit for a day of fly fishing as it is for a night out. The microfiber fabric welt pocket is a neat touch and handy for keeping the lens of my sunglasses clean. This shirt has a slightly fitted cut so order a size up if you're worried about which size to go with.
The Loggerhead Longsleeve has become a favorite technical shirt to use when out on the water to stay sun free as well. Relaxed fit with a lot of touches that similar type shirts do not have such as the two-button collar, thumb holes at the cuffs, and a mini stash pocket lined with microfiber.
