A few fellows from A Tight Loop crew spent a late winter weekend in Iowa checking out the trout angling opportunities there.
Keith Webster donned his T.F.M. t-shirt for the weekend and sent in a few images for the T.F.M. Spotting Photo Contest.
Brad of A Tight Loop wrote... "We were out in the Marquette, Iowa area chasing winter trout for the weekend. We jetted early Saturday morning and hustled our way out to the Prairie Du Chein, Wisconsin area, passing our normal Driftless creeks and seeking new water, in a new state. With our licenses fresh off the printer, we got on the water early and found gin clear water and spring like conditions. We didn't find fish immediately, but when we did, it was typically their tails as they darted up and down stream, spooking two pools up before we even approached the creek. This ensued all day, but we each managed a few fish to hand, finding luck on dries, nymphs and streamers. We knew it was going to be tough when we found an amazing hole running beneath a rail crossing and allowed full visual of every fish below. For 20 minutes we watched as fish spooked up and down stream, several fish we believed to be over 25".
I didn't get the proverbial food shot, but I can tell you that the supper clubs in Iowa are just as good as Wisconsin. Our evening ended in a large meal, a few adult beverages and some great story telling and laughs.
Conditions were great, but made the fishing tough. It's a phenomenal fishery that we know will produce fish. It turns out it just wasn't our day."

I spent many a summers just North of Prarie Du Chien on the mighty Miss, and several years near those waters living in IA. Only a few trout streams, but nice country. Great post and I look forward to the article.
