Milestones

It is kind of hard to believe but The Fiberglass Manifesto turned four years old last month and this entry marks 1,700 posts that have been published as well.  What's even harder for me to comprehend is this website is quickly approaching 900,000 page views.  Where did all this come from?

When I started this website in 2008 I had very little idea what I wanted this blog to be besides a place to talk about my growing interest in fiberglass fly rods.  I was not familiar with how to put together a blog (luckily the Blogger platform is more or less idiot proof) or how to organize and publish content.  Fast forward to 2012 and I still feel like I really don't know what I am doing but damn it, I'm having fun stabbing away at it late at night after the house is asleep or each morning before leaving for work.

A large part of the growth of T.F.M. has been from the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages associated with the website.  This past weekend the T.F.M. Facebook page surpassed 3,500 "LIKE" clicks and it's astounding that so people follow and participate on the page.

The neat thing from all of this is that the fly fishing industry, various fly rod builders, and blank makers are listening to the noise here, and an ever growing  Fiberglass Flyrodders forum, and are creating new fiberglass fly rods and blank options for builders.  The list of builders and blank makers has grown three fold or more since this website started and there are another half dozen or more to add to the Rod Shops page in the coming months.

All of this only further confirms what I've been saying for the past several years that "GLASS IS NOT DEAD".

I just want to say thank you to everyone that checks in daily, leaves a comment on a blog post, follows on one (or all) of the social media pages, and wears their T.F.M. t-shirt while out and about.  This website wouldn't have even a fraction of the juice that it does without you and I appreciate it more than you know.  Cheers...
