I am always amazed by how many new anglers use T.F.M. as a resource and felt it was important to tip off those interested on the Fly Fishing 101 classes offered by Orvis.
Over the last two years these introduction to fly fishing classes have taught over 2,000 people and that number is expected to exceed 10,000 by the end of this year. These classes are the most thought forward idea to bring new anglers into the sport and Orvis, and the shops involved, are putting a lot of time and commitment into each class.
The Fly Fishing 101 classes are free and offered through select Orvis shops. Participants will receive discounts on purchases through the shop and also will receive free memberships to Trout Unlimited and Federation of Fly Fishers as well.
Once the 101 class has been completed there is a 201 class to attend as well.

And then check out their shooting school. You only thought you knew how to wing shoot. Of coarse they then try to sell you guns and such, but that is their business and they have been at it since 1859. Orvis, in my mind, has been a class act since day one.
