Fine Tackle - Modern Purist?

One of Christian Hörgren's, of Fine Tackle, latest builds was on a 6'9" three weight blank from McFarland Rods and was done for another fly rod builder here in the United States.

I can't help but think that this is Christian's modern take on the Dr. Howard Purist but either way, it's a wonderful and a stunning build.  Elegant simplicity at it's best.

Christian wrote...  "The blank is one of Mike McFarland's recent tapers.  This 6'9'' three weight is very crisp with a medium fast dry fly action.  The unpainted white blank is tinted in green which gives it a very strong personality.  I didn't want to ruin it with additional colors, but instead add the right materials to enhance the visual aura of the blank.  I decided to use corian, bamboo and shaded silk wraps, together with a Mildrum stripping guide and Recoil snakes to keep the fast performance of the rod."

Absolutely lovely. Modern purist is the perfect description. It's how I would want one built. Exactly.

Mike...Christian does so many unique and special builds that each one I see I then say is my favorite. Then I see the next one. He's masterful for sure.
