A Musky Lab Exclusive - The Bohen 747

While on this past summer's trip to Hayward to hang out with Brad Bohen of Musky Country Outfitters, he sat down at the vise to knock out a fresh fly one morning before we left the "Musky Lab" that he's dubbed the Bohen 747.

What's the recipe for this fly?  Start with a hook, a handmade metal shank, some flash, Clear Cure Goo, and copious amounts of Primo Tail bucktail and Hang Time hackle.  Of course there is a healthy dose of Bohen mojo wrapped in as well.

I know that there are an unusual number of photographs in this post but follow along.  They are all here to show the step by step of creating the Bohen 747.  Click on a photo to view this series of images larger.

It's no wonder that this fly ends up in the maw of many a musky.  It's pure magic as it ungulates, throbs, and pulsates under the water.

If you didn't catch the posts on this trip the first time around, then check out these dispatches...
