One of the surprises in fiberglass this year was definitely the introduction of the Butter Stick from Redington. I didn't see this series coming but cool to have it around. This series of six fly rods, covering two weight to five weight, hits a sweet spot in contemporary glass as far as medium slow taper and action and a price point that won't break the piggy bank. I've demoed one of the three weights and the five weight Butter Stick fly rods and found them to be a lot of fun and capable small to medium stream fly rods.
One of RIO Products latest fly line offerings is the Perception which is an ultra low stretch line for sensitivity and control and the SureFire color system assists anglers in accuracy with casting. This fly line was the winner for Best New Fly Line at both IFTD and EFTTEX.
I've just started using the Perception fly line in 5WF and will post a review soon. I like how this fly line casts and the different colored sections are a neat way to keep track on how much fly line you are casting too.
