You may be scrambling around today trying to think of a good last minute Christmas gift and I thought I'd pass along the suggestion of buying memberships for your family and friends to Trout Unlimited.
There are a lot of reasons to be a member of T.U. but the point that I find most impressive is that 89 cents of every dollar that is contributed does towards the mission of coldwater fishery conservation. Memberships make a difference.
From the "What do I (or whoever you gift) get out of this membership?" front, I'd say that Trout Unlimited's quarterly TROUT Magazine has seen quite an overhaul under the direction of Kirk Deeter as editor and what was kind of bland print magazine that really just highlighted conservation projects, is turning itself into a full fledged fly fishing lifestyle magazine with opinion pieces, interviews, gear reviews, destination highlights, project updates, and more. Over the last year and a half it's turned into a very enjoyable magazine that I look forward to arriving in the mail every few months.
Check out the Trout Unlimited website for more information on how to give the gift of Trout Unlimited this season.
