Three For The Experience Of Glass

I realize that the content on this website day to day can get a little heavy handed on what's new and shiny but let's not forget that fly fishing with glass is all about the experience and the feel of a fish taking a fly and then running for the undercut, rapids, or to open water.

Linked below are a couple threads from the Fiberglass Flyrodders forum and then from a rod builder's blog which capture the experience with a mix of stunning images and narrative worth your time to check out.  These links are what it's all about.

A GOLDEN EAGLE IN CUTTHROAT HEAVEN
Abe Lee has a lot of things going on and more or less took a break from fly fishing.  His first trip in over a year was with his vintage Orvis fly rod, a clicker reel, and lost himself for a day in cutthroat heaven.

A NEW STEFFEN AND IDAHO CUTTHROAT
This recent thread on the Fiberglass Flyrodders forum hits all the high notes for me with breaking in a new glass rod, banging around the west in a vintage camper, and a lot of family fly fishing fun.

TROUT STALKER & CRICKET EATERS
Vladan Milenkovic of Rod Catalog took off to the Driftless area with a couple of his fly rods last week and posted two different photo essays on his blog, Fly Fisherman Cafe, which capture the experience of what that region is all about.

THE DRIFTLESS - PHOTO ESSAY #2

I hope that you enjoyed those as much as I did.   Let's all get out and create a few of our own experiences with glass this weekend.

Here's to the weekend.  Cheers...
