It's been a few months since I first tipped everyone off that the Cabela's CGR fiberglass fly rods were coming back and yes, things were slowed up a bit with the shipment over on the slow boat and with Customs, but a fresh batch of CGR fly rods have arrived at the Cabela's distribution center and are finally ready to ship.
I am excited to see the Cabela's CGR series back in the line up as they are a great choice for someone looking for a quality fiberglass fly rod for the price. It's also excellent that there are choices from two weight to 7/8 weights in this series so a lot of bases are covered with this series.
The Cabela's website still shows the entire CGR series as "Backorderable" but that should roll over to an "In Stock" status sometime today.
From the Cabela's website...
"We had taken our CGR Fiberglass Fly Rod series off the shelves, but you liked them so much you asked us to bring it back. Originally released in celebration of our 50th Anniversary and back by popular demand, we're extremely proud to reintroduce a line of rods with both classic aesthetics and contemporary performance. Our CGR series matches the deep, full-flexing actions of traditional fiberglass fly rods, plus it improves on them with high-grade components and the latest in rod engineering. These three-piece E-glass models excel at delicate presentations and tight, short-range casting. Besides having new blank colors and thread wraps, the finishing touches include high-grade cork handles with model-specific grips and spigot ferrules. This new series offers the five original models with the addition of a 6'2", 2-weight rod. 5/6- and 7/8-weight rods feature fighting butts. 7/8-weight features a saltwater reel seat. All models include a nylon rod case."
Want to know about the Cabela's CGR line up? Check out this full length review of each model on T.F.M. from several years ago. The only model not included in this review is the new 6'2" two weight. Also note that the cosmetics are a bit different on the new CGR series as well.

They look much better with those wraps than the last iteration....
Ordered mine. Can't wait to get it. I will have it on the water as soon as possible.
I just checked and the rods are now showing inventory on the Cabelas site. Have at it!
Whooo Hooo!!!
This is great: Cabela's initially priced these rods at $129.99. Now, for at least the beginning of the holidays, Cabela's reduced the price of all six rod types to $77.99 a rod!!! (How can you go wrong?)
Got the 7'6'' 5/6 and true to your previous review its an absolute gem. Likes a 5wt line but is a different rod with the 6wt line. very smooth loading and a surprising amount of back bone for as limber as the rod feels. Stripping guide appears to still be on the small side but i had no trouble shooting 50 feet of line with a 444 peach line. Rod loads easily with little more than the leader past the tip and casts from 5 to 40 feet effortlessly. Officially in Love, only minors things of note are the smallish stripping guide, quite a bit of filler in the cork and the rod tube is rather flimsy but the rod alone is still worth ever penny.
Rods are on sale for 64.00 just bought one this morning

I also just bought the 3wt for $65. I am excited to get this this thing out on the river! I still need to find a light little reel for it though.
