I first became aware of Fish for Change last year as the Student Scholarships application entry phase was just wrapping up and wanted to share this now as applications have re-opened for 2020. There are weeks scheduled in Honduras, Bahamas, Mexico and Colorado for the coming year.
There are multiple scholarships that applicants will be considered for and these are made possible through partnerships and support from Orvis, Scientific Anglers, Captains For Clean Water, the Fleming Family Foundation and partnering lodges.
The mission of Fish for Change is to "Use fly-fishing as a platform to make the world a better place by uniting a diverse group of students in wild fisheries where they engage in a variety of initiatives that promote Connection, Education, Conservation, and Exploration
Throughout the course of the program, students integrate with local communities and work together on local and global initiatives, including community development projects, mangrove restoration, education based projects with local children, community art projects, trash clean ups and more."
Visit the Fish for Change website for more information and make sure that your application is submitted by January 15, 2020.
