For those who like to plan ahead with their summer travel, the Michi-Glass Fly Rod Gathering is planned for Saturday, June 27, 2026, and this annual event will be held at Warblers Hideaway outside of Grayling, Michigan. Ken Frazee, "Glass Geek" and longtime friend, has taken over planning of this gathering and things are shaping up for another good time for all those who can attend.
If you need talking into this day event, there are few finer times to visit northern Michigan than in late June as there will be excellent trout angling all around the area, go on the Kirkland Warbler tour, spend a few days on the coast, go for a long walk on the beach for smallmouth, and so much more.
This event has been high on my list to attend but other fly fishing plans will again get in the way of coming back up to Michigan. Darn. It is likely however that I'll send a bundle of hard to find fiberglass fly rods to be at the gathering for attendees to cast.

Ken wrote... "Thank you for sharing the Michi-Glass gathering announcement. This event has been going strong for almost 20 years and these regional gatherings offer the opportunity to explore fiberglass fly rods both new and vintage.
Mike McFarland of McFarland Rod Company and Tom Brodhead with 406 Fly Lines both plan to attend with their latest offerings. Mark McKellip of McKellip Brothers Fly Rods will be attending as he founded this event and will have a number of his rods to show as well. Our friend Adam Tsaloff will be present with some of his impressive collection as will Dave Staley, aka Crusty Bugger from the Fiberglass Flyrodders forum, with his vast collection. There is talk that Richard Alexander may be joining as well with his wonderful Heddon reproduction reels.
Each year we have a number of out of state visitors who bring along
their personal collections and we are always seeking a fun turnout."
If you are any where near northern Michigan, or can get there, and have an affinity for fiberglass fly rods, mark Michi-Glass down on your calendar. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Ken Frazee by email.
