Portand Fly Fishing Film Tour
T.F.M. Reporter and East Fork Fly photog Rich Schaaff will be at the Portland, Oregon Fly Fishing Film Tour on Friday, February 12th at the McMenamins Bagdad Theater.

T.F.M. Spotting - Al's Baby Tarpon
The "Malaysia Boys" can't stop won't stop and the first submission for the T.F.M. SPOTTING Photo Contest in February is a photograph of Al Pocono repping this T.F.M. t-shirt and catching baby tarpon.
Al wrote..."I was fishing north of Malaysia. I don't do much saltwater fishing, but when my company sent me there for work purpose, I asked my friend to bring me to do some estuary fishing looking for baby tarpon and ladyfish. I brought my Orvis Fullflex and Marryat CMR56 reel. We were having some fun with baby tarpon using brown damsel nymph and roach pattern."

The Richardson Chest Fly Box
Admittedly I am a pushover for all the different methods in carrying fly gear to the water. I've got vests, backpacks, bags, and lumbar packs that all seems to get used at least a couple of times during the course of the fishing year but what I don't have is a Richardson Chest Fly Box.
Recently two members on the Fiberglass Flyrodders forum, Fred Paddock and Tom Anderson, happened across slightly used Richardson Chest Fly Boxes and snapped them up. I asked each of them to send along a few photographs since I wanted to see the ins and outs of the chest fly box system.

After looking over these photos and then checking out the Richardson Chest Fly Box website I am really surprised how "new school" these seemingly "old school" at first glance boxes are.
The options start with several types of foam inserts, tippet dispensers and tool storage, and end with a long list of other modifications that can be made to personalize the chest fly box to your liking.
Admittedly a fully decked out chest box can get a little pricey but it can also be something that you can add to over the years as well.

Countdown to Fun Hogs Weekend!
Longtime T.F.M. readers may remember Joel Thompson's post last year about the annual "FUN HOGS WEEKEND". I received an email from Joel last week and it sounds like they are getting ramped up for another bash at the cabin.
"Sixteen days and counting until the annual Fun Hog week is here! This year names will be changed to protect the Googled but the mission will be the same. Become one with nature, booze, and food while telling as many lies to your buddies as you can muster up! Did I mention the huge bonfire? This could be the biggest one of record thanks to recent logging up at the lake. Our goal this year is to make it up to second Dolus Lake via snowshoes. It is roughly a little over 2000 feet gain in elevation leaving straight from the cabin. We plan to drill holes in the ice and fish. My guess is it will take us all the next couple of days after that journey before we can walk any further than the outhouse."
"I will give you a full report with pictures upon my return to the civilized world. And just in case you were wondering...Bacon Bits in the picture does make pig noises.
Oh...and this year’s report will only have nicknames in it which will likely all be pig related. I think I will be taking on the name Boss Hog. Seems only right since it all goes down at my crib!"

Sleeping in the Dirt - Issue 1
Yesterday Aaron Otto dropped the first issue of his stellar online photography magazine Sleeping In The Dirt on the masses and it's certainly worth a look.
Besides Aaron, a select few of his photog friends are included in the project as well. Good work all!

Well...you all certainly didn't make it to tough for Riki Rahman to be January's T.F.M. Spotting Photo Contest finalist with no other photos submitted. Congrats Riki!
