YakAttack VISICarbon Pro Overview

Along with all the modifications I've made on the Native Ultimate this past summer I also started thinking that it would be nice to have a kayak light on board for early morning and late night excursions.  As I was looking around at the different options I came across the YakAttack website and noticed that they had a new model coming out called the VISICarbon Pro.  Intrigued I emailed Luther Cifers III of YakAttack to see what the difference in the new model would be.  He emailed a few prototype photos and it was all I need to see that it was going to be worth the wait.

A few weeks later I received a YakAttack VISICarbon Pro in the mail and have been really impressed with the thought that has gone into the design of this next generation of kayak light.

The VISICarbon Pro is extremely lightweight and made from four separate pieces of carbon fiber tubing that are bungee corded together.  When assembled the light is forty-eight inches in length.  The VISICarbon Pro will be offered in one, two, or four LED light options and can be ordered either Scotty or RAM ready.

The benefits to the YakAttack VISICarbon Pro are several fold.  First, because the VISICarbon Pro folds into four short sections it can be stowed away until needed in the multi-purpose orange bag which also doubles as the pole's flag.  Assembly and storage of the VISICarbon Pro is a snap and it couldn't be easier to have it on board the kayak.

The main reason I had searched out a kayak light was to use in low light situations and at night.  What I didn't expect was how handy and useful the VISICarbon Pro is during the day as well with the bright orange flag waving in the breeze.

This past week we did an open water float on Lake Michigan around Mission Point and I felt much more comfortable with our safety as the flag flew overhead.  The VISICarbon Pro is a purchase worth it both for day and night use and essential for my kayak gear bag here on out.

Check out the YakAttack website for more information on the VISICarbon Pro and other products offered by this small but attentive company.
