Tenkara Is Not Dapping

There has been a lot of written about the tenkara lately, a lot of it undue drama, but the latest video from Tenkara USA is a well done reminder that you do actually have to cast the rod to make it work.

I am seriously considering both my Tenkara USA Ayu and Iwana rods to the T.F.M. Fly Rod Loan Program listing.  I wonder if I could squeeze Daniel for a few demo lines to use with them?  I heartily say to try the tenkara method before you form an opinion on what it is all about.

there was a time i found the idea of tenkara to be very compelling.

this was before i was forced to endure the constant sales pitch of their elite simplicity by those who bought these things.

i got over being compelled. now i just want to punch their online personas in the neck every time they say shit like "minimal" and "simplicity." i'd watch the video, but i'm pretty sure i understand how awesomely zen they are without them telling me.

again.

you should get the guy who sells the glass tenkara rods to throw out a sample to you. then you're on topic. :)

Fly fishing is like politics you have some that will only except the extreme right some that will only except the extreme left. The truth is somewhere in the middle, I own 5 tenkara rods along with 10 regular fly rods. They all catch fish and I usually find myself fishing both on the same trip depending on the water and the fly I'm using. Now my young daughter will only pick up the tenkara rod, she catches fish and that is what she caught some of her first fish on. Bottom line is whether it is a high end fly rod or tenkara rod or even an old cane pole bought at True Value, "I did that one day it was a blast on a small trout stream". Bottom line is to have fun and let's not kid ourselves we are all given a sales job on about anything we buy these days. aw

Cameron, I would be willing to donate some lines to the program. Just let me know which sizes you want.

Did someone say Tenkara Lines?
Just let me know what you need and they'll be in the mail the same day.

gfen...I see your point on the sales pitch. It's been thick at times.

Allen...good advice and neat that your daughter is already getting her fly fishing on.
