Last night Shane Gray of Graywolf Rods sent along a few photographs of what he and I are calling "Build #99" which will be built on a Steffen Brothers 8'3" 6/7 weight fiberglass blank that I purchased some time ago and had it sent to Shane to be built up.
Photoed below are most of the components that will be used on this build including the custom Joel Lemke made aluminum anodized up locking reel seat which was designed specifically for this build.
Shane, being a bit silly, wrote... "Cameron, here are the pictures. I plan to take this pile of components, and some that are not pictured and build you a great rod. I will do my best and with a little practice, and a lot of luck, this rod might almost be fishable. Trust me, I will try my hardest. Wish me luck."
I plan on using this as my main warmwater and light saltwater fly rod and to fill the gap between the Steffen 8'6" 5/6 weight and 8' 8/9 weight. You really can't have enough Steffen Brothers blank builds in the arsenal.
Look for information in the coming weeks on "Build #100" which Graywolf Rods will be giving away to a T.F.M. reader as a thank you for the support that this readership has given his custom fly rod shop over the past couple years. Details on that soon. Someone is going to end up being very fortunate.

Very nice, what a terrific river Smallmouth Bass ~ big river, big Trout Streamer rod that should be. Could also see it for hairbugs , poppers from a boat working Bass in a lake. I have a soft spot for un-sanded blanks also.
very jealous....can't wait to see pics of the finished product.
Any pics of the finished product? I want to see how the black turned out!
Cheers
