Introducing Sparrow Fly Rods

Over the past year or so Jonathan Bartal and I have been trading emails as he has been methodically putting his fly rod company together and refining his website.  All the pieces have finally come together and Jonathan recently launched Sparrow Fly Rods which are built for those that enjoy the blue lines and creeks where native fishes live.

Jonathan wrote...  "Sparrow fly rods are designed  with the small stream fisherman in mind.  Located in Anderson, South Carolina, we are a stone’s throw away from the Southern  Appalachians.

In small mountain streams, short  and accurate casts dominate.  Our rods are engineered with soft tips to load well at short distances and strong midsections to pack enough punch to make the occasional long shot when needed.  The soft tip also enables you to truly feel the power of small stream fish and protect the extra light tippets that are necessary for the larger feisty fish.

Sparrow rods are decidedly retro in appearance.  Blanks are constructed from E-Glass in a translucent “Japanese Maple” finish and are unsanded.  Vintage style grips with 1/4 “ rings and cap and ring hardware available in naval bronze and nickel silver.  Traditional snakes and stripping guides are used on all models.  All rods come standard with an aluminum tube  and sock.   Lengths available from 6'9 - 7'6 with line weights of 2/3 or 3/4."

Sparrow Fly Rods has been added to the ever growing listings on the Rod Shops page.
