When I first started talking about a possible T.F.M. hosted trip to Beaver Island, Christian Hörgren of Fine Tackle sent me a message and said that he'd likely be interested in making the trip from Sweden over to the United States as a somewhat unorthodox 40th birthday gift to himself. All the pieces have fallen into place and Christian arrives in Traverse City on Friday and will have some time to get a trout fix before jumping over to Beaver Island on Sunday afternoon.
Christian has been hard at work on a Steffen Brothers 8'6" 8/9 weight fly rod to bring along on this trip and it's certainly neat to see his take on a heavy weight glass fly rod. He gets extra credit points for the choice of fly reel too.
I am really looking forward to spending time with Christian after years of conversing through emails. He's undoubtedly bringing with him some very unique fly fishing gear from his part of the world and will putting it to work on the flats of Lake Michigan.
