Shane Gray of Graywolf Rods is hard at work in the shop and building up a few fly rods to carry with him to the upcoming Michi-Glass International Gathering in June and sent along these images of a Signature S-Glass 8'6" four weight build that he recently completed that turned out just beautiful.
I've long been a fan of the Signature S-Glass series and have bought and traded for three fly rods in this series for my own collection with the 8' five weight, 9' five weight, and the 8'6" eight weight. The taper of this series is medium fast progressive in nature and makes for a fly rod that is capable to do everything with.
Shane wrote... "This four piece four weight blank follows along the same taper model as the rest of the Signature S-glass series, but the added section makes the butt diameter a bit larger than the three piece models so this one has more power low. This is a great choice for a packable four weight for travel.
I turned my personal favorite signature cigar grip on this one and also wrapped in one of the new carbide/nickle 11 mm stripping guides on it as well. The rod weights in at 3.8 ounces. I plan to bring this one to the Michi-Glass Gathering next month, but may need to break it in on the Au Sable River in the next couple weeks."
