For several months now Tony Overstake of True West Rods Custom Fly Rods has been working on an idea called "The Switchbutt" which is an adjustable extension built into the butt of a fly rod to create a switch rod type lower grip and he's found that the Swift Fly Fishing Epic 686 is an excellent blank to use with this enhancement.
Recently Tony created a short film on the Metolius River casting his Epic 686 Switchbutt and you get the idea on how it can be used effectively for various double handed casts.
This is a really interesting idea and there has even been some talk of creating one of these Epic 686 Switchbutt fly rods for the T.F.M. Fly Rod Demo Program at some point as well.

If a demo is made, I would love to try it out in these Alaskan streams.
