Along with the re-release of the ever popular CGR series, Cabela's also went to the drawing board on the Prime one piece fiberglass fly rods. This series includes four fly rods from a 6' three weight to a 7'3" five weight.
The flex profile is very similar to the CGR series so if you like that series then this will likely be a winner as well.
I've spent some time with the 6' three weight and it's a lot of fun. I would say that the build components are a step up from the CGR series and I like the half wells cork grip, even on the three weight.
From the Cabela's website...
"Cabela's Prime Fiberglass Fly Rod redefines the term "smooth casting." This innovative, one-of-a-kind rod features a one-piece fiberglass blank, meaning it has no ferrule-induced dead spots. Thus, energy transfers perfectly from tip to base for a deep, supple flex. Moderate fiberglass action delivers dry flies gracefully, making it the ideal rod for small- to medium-sized trout streams. The 5-wt. model throws streamers and light poppers well – excellent for bass and panfish – and if you're feeling adventurous, hauling in carp on this rod is as exciting as it gets. All models have a snub-nose half-wells cork handle and the 5 wt. has a fighting butt. Ceramic stripper guides reduce friction to enhance the smooth feel. Slightly translucent drab-olive blank with dark-olive wraps looks as fluid as it feels. Includes an olive rod sock."
The Cabela's Prime series includes the following fly rods...
6' THREE WEIGHT
6'4" FOUR WEIGHT
7'1" FOUR WEIGHT
7'3" FIVE WEIGHT

So, E-Glass then? Slow-action full-flex? Progressive taper right? If so, then I'm headed to Cabelas next weekend.
