Fiberglass Fly Rods: 20th Anniversary Edition

When I first started fishing with fiberglass fly rods over ten years ago, one of my first purchases was "Fiberglass Fly Rods" which was co-written by Victor R. Johnson Sr. and Victor R. Johnson Jr.  Reading it and re-reading it again, I learned quite a bit and it gave me a firm foundation to build off in becoming a "Glass Geek".

Several years ago I had an opportunity to meet Vic Johnson Jr. at a fiberglass fly rod gathering in the Catskills (T.F.M. posts from this trip HERE and HERE) and he mentioned that he was beginning to work on a new edition of the book that he had penned with this father.  So after we began trading emails and along the way he asked if I would consider writing the forward to the new book.  This was quite an honor and after several revisions and working well past the due date, I sent it off to Vic and his editor.

Fast forward to now and the "Fiberglass Fly Rods: 20th Anniversary Edition" is available.  I've read through the latest edition several times and Vic did a great job of highlighting many of the fly rod companies and small job builders working with glass.  The book also has a price guide to help determine value on used and vintage fly rods.  This required reading for anyone just starting to figure out fiberglass fly rods to those who want to stay in the know.  You need this book.

Purchase Fiberglass Fly Rods: 20th Anniversary Edition online through Vic's website.  Let me know what you think and go easy on the fellow who wrote the forward.  I am still stoked at the opportunity to put a few words together and see it in print. Thanks again, Vic.

Vic Johnson will be attending the Michi-Glass gathering being held June 25-26 later this month and will have copies of his new book to sell to anyone attending. If you are attending, give me a shout and I will have Vic bring one for you. I can be reached at 989-893-5938 or email to fishwoodrods@charter.net
Thanks,
Mark McKellip.
