For me, this time of year means getting all the fly boxes out to sort, reorganize, and see where the gaps are. There are trout boxes filled with dry flies, streamers, and nymphs, too many warmwater (both big and small) filled with everything from bluegill to bass flies, the redfish box for trips to the Lowcountry, a couple of wallets filled with steelhead swing flies, the Beaver Island boxes with everything crayfish and sculpin, and then the saltwater boxes with everything bonefish, permit, and tarpon related. WHEW...
It's fun to get them each squared away but the what needs to be tied or bought to refill can get daunting. Good thing Orvis kicked off their Giant Fly Sale with 20% off all flies for the month of March to make it all a little easier. Of course, Tom Rosenbauer has to have some fun with it too.
