For years now I've been a bit risky with our Nikon D70s and carry it on the water all the time. There have been a couple scares but so far it's not taken a swim. I figured with a spring and summer full of kayak fly fishing planned that it might be a good idea to invest in a bit of protection for our only DSLR.
After trading messages with a few of the photographers on The Itinerant Angler forum I decided to go with the Nanuk 905 case for it's compact size and the ability to get padded dividers instead of foam.
There is nothing wrong with scored foam but I figured it would just be an invitation for our son Finn to tear it apart piece by piece.
Admittedly the Nikon DSLR and the 50mm lens make this a tight fit but I really didn't want to carry to much case in the kayak. Later this summer I plan to add the larger Nanuk 925 case to allow for more lens and other camera gear.
Look for a more in depth review of the Nanuk 905 case in the coming months but first opinions are all positive so far.
