Yesterday Orvis pressed the "GO" button on their new Carp Central website and with it have jump started a summer of carping fun with contests, information, events spread over the U.S., and gear and fly tips for these interested in learning more about perusing these fish.
The creation of this new website was largely a collaboration between Orvis and CarpPro Magazine along with industry brainchildren Kirk Deeter and Tom Bie.
Tom Rosenbauer of the Orvis Fly Fishing Guide Podcast sat down recently with Dan Frasier of CarpPro Magazine for an hour long conversation that is well worth a listen for dedicated carp addicts and the occasional Backstabber dabblers alike.
This week starts eight weeks of photo contests on the Carp Central website, with this week's focus on "Biggest Carp" photos. Upload yours for a chance to win a Helios 2 outfit among many other prizes.
For fun I uploaded one of the thick beauties from last summer on Beaver Island. Damn, I can't wait to get back. Four more weeks...
Check out the Carp Central website for more information.
