Bozeman Reel - Idea To Execution

The fellows at the Bozeman Reel Co. have known for a bit that I've been interested in purchasing one of their fly reels and the other day Dan Rice sent me a mock up of the RS527 with the Retro Fly etched on the reel foot.  That was the last nudge I needed to write a check and have one sent my way for an upcoming trip to Montana in April.

The RS527 arrived this past week and is solidly put together in all respects.  The matte black finish should wear well and it was a snap to switch from LHW to RHW.  The RDX drag is easy to adjust and with a smooth start up inertia.  This is a "Made in Montana" fly reel that can take some abuse.

The Retro Fly etch looks sharp on the reel foot and it's fun to have it on this fly reel to make it specifically mine.

The RS527 should get a work out in Montana in a couple weeks, and then a healthy dose of warmwater locally, followed by a trip to Beaver Island this summer.

Check out the Bozeman Reel Co. website for more information and follow along on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well.

P.S...always good to hear things like that and I'll make a point to stop at the shop on my next trip to Bozeman.
