BadAxe Design - The Keys Studies

Some guys just can't take a break and I get it.  This morning I'm knocking out a couple posts while sitting on the front porch of Headhunters Fly Shop before hitting the Missouri River one more time.

Jonathan Marquardt of BadAxe Design was recently on a getaway trip with his wife to the Keys and spent the time fishing and painting fish in the down time.  Not a bad way to spend a few days away.

Jonathan wrote...  "These are all four studies of fish we look for down in the Keys.  We were able to catch mutton snapper, yellowtail and jack crevalle but no action on the bonefish, though we did see about five or six on the flats.  Megan's dad took us out every day in his boat and I had something really big take me down and break me off three times.  Water temps were down about 7-10 degrees over last year which accounts for not seeing very many tarpon out on the flats.  We fished with Captain Chris Wells out of Big Pine for two days and he does an excellent job of putting us on fish every year."

Check out the BadAxe Design website for more on Jonathan's work.  Available artwork is posted regularly on his Etsy page for purchase.
