You might not always see it but there is a lot of working together that goes on behind the curtains with many of the small shop custom fly rod builders. Sometimes, when we're lucky, there are things that happen on the other side of the curtain for everyone to see and this recent collaboration between Graywolf Fly Rods and C. Barclay Fly Rod Co. is certainly something cool.
This collaboration is simple enough with Shane Gray of Graywolf Fly Rods and Chris Barclay of C. Barclay Fly Rod Co. trading each other several of their favorite blanks. Shane has completed builds on both of the blanks that he was sent and they are shown below with links to the Graywolf Rods Blog for more information and images.
I own or have cast builds from C. Barclay Fly Rod Co. on both of these blanks and they are exceptional in every way. Chris Barclay has a lot of hard work involved in the design of these blanks and his talents certainly show. These are wonderful tapers.

The reel seats are like a work of art. A beautiful fly rod can be enjoyed, by just holding it.
