As a hack blogger I just need an internet connection and my MacBook to do some work. This means a coffee shop, picnic table sitting beside a food truck, chair in the corner of a fly shop, bar stool, hotel room, or my fly tying desk all work. For a small shop custom fly rod builder it requires a specific work space or series of work spaces to do it right. These work spaces range from "dirty room" where lathe work is done to "clean room" where wrapping and finish work is done.
Matt Leiderman of Leiderman Rods recently moved and with that meant resetting his shop to the basement of the new house. He posted a few images on Facebook which I thought were a neat insight to how and where he works as a rod builder.
Matt wrote on the Leiderman Rods Facebook page...
"It's been too long since I've posted...sorry for that! Goal for the year is to get more informal content up and get more rods built!
I have a tremendous respect for Matt as a rod builder and his flawless work speaks for itself. His custom fly rods are top shelf in every way and every time. I count myself fortunate to have his builds as part of my own collection.

I'll start
by posting some photos of the shop (when it was clean!). We moved a few
months ago and while it was a big undertaking it is proving to be a
great move. The shop was put together more with rods in mind and is
proving to be efficient for building so far. Thanks for your
patience!"
