I sometimes wonder what would be missing from my life without Instagram as I've come across so many stellar small shop makers, rod builders, fly tiers and artists of all sorts. One new recent find was artist Ben Burlock. I get a real kick out of his style and asked him if I could share a few of his most recent pieces of artwork and tattoo work with this post.
Ben wrote... "I've been a tattooer for the past 11 years and an avid fly fisherman for much longer than that. I'm based in the beautiful Bow Valley in Canmore, Alberta, which is in Canada. I currently tattoo at New World Samurai and I would describe my artistic style has illustrative, with heavy nature influence.

I've
settled in the valley in between some of the best fly fishing an angler
could ask for which is the mighty Bow River in Alberta and the Kootney River which is next
door in British Columbia. This gives me the ability to fish for brown trout one day and bull trout the next.
Much
of this translates into my art and I am so thankful that it brings with
it like minded outdoor enthusiasts as my clientele. There's isn't much
that can compete with making tattoos and talking fish techniques almost
everyday.
All I hope is
that I can do some justice to the beauty that is the outdoors, through
my choice of translation...art and tattooing."
