LEIDERMAN RODS - A Modern Take with Classic Winston Vibes

You may have already gathered it in previous T.F.M. posts highlighting the work of Matt Leiderman of Leiderman Rods, but he's a full time educator and summers are when he dives deep into his fiberglass fly rods blank stash to complete client builds while still offering up a for sale build now and again.

Matt shared a recent completed build on a Tom Morgan Rodsmiths 6'9" LT 3-weight blank that looks as sweet as I would expect it to cast.  This blank is new old stock from the days when Kerry Burkhiemer was rolling the TMR fiberglass stock.

Sidenote...  I wonder if Tom Morgan Rodsmiths will bring this blank back at some point?

Matt wrote...  "Another build I’ve been contemplating and finally had time to put together is this modern glass take on a Stalker or Leetle Feller on the Tom Morgan Rodsmiths 6’9” LT3 blank which has a Japanese inspired, full flexing action.

My goal was to create a classic Winston vibe with hardware that is all nickel silver with a machined and antique blued butt cap with silver center (rather than black plastic with a tiny screw), a slim diamond knurled slip ring, and an antiqued nickel silver disk winding check.  I matched this with cherry red wraps with white preserved tipping and a classic red agate.

I think it’s cool but I’m a bit of a Winston fan-boy.  If you think it’s cool enough to own, send me a note because it is available for purchase..."
