Changes to the Lunar S2 Glass fly rods include taper adjustments on S-Glass fiberglass blanks, translucent olive green throughout the series from 2-weight to 8-weight, higher grade components to include figured wood or metal inserts depending on the model, and mini to full size fighting butt on the 6-weight through 8-weight models.
I spent some time with the Lunar S2 Glass 7-weight on the casting pond whle at the show and I was blown away by the performance and cosmetics of this sub-$200 fly rod. It's not hyperbole to say that there isn't anything at or near this price point that comes close to what you'll get from this series. You could spend two or three times as much and still not have anything that will cast (or even look) better.
Don't just take my word for it, listen to this goofy guy talk about them here...
Interested? Now through Friday, February 16th, 2025, Moonlit is offering the Lunar S2 Glass series fly rods with pre-order sale pricing of $129.99 to $134.99 depending on line weight. That's savings of $70 to $75 off each fly rod, depending on the model, for the next ten days. Orders should ship at or before February 17th.
Postcript... If you're looking for an inexpensive but excellent fly line for these fly rods, consider the Moonlit Performance Taper or even the Saltwater Line on the 8-weight. Don't let the less than $40 price point put you off. These fly lines cast wonderfully on the Moonlit Lunar S2 series fly rods and are made to work together.
