JP ROSS FLY RODS & CO. - If Theo van Doesburg Built a Fly Rod

The same guy (me) who wrote a T.F.M. post in 2014, titled "Forget About the Damn Blank Color" is also the guy who says fiberglass blanks, in their many colors, can be a stunning canvas for the creation of one of a kind fly rods that not only can be wonderful to cast and fish, but also to look at.  Creativity comes in many forms and custom one-off fiberglass fly rods are some of my most favorite things.

JP Ross Fly Rods & Company posted this Theo van Doesburg inspired Snow Glass S-Glass build on their social channels last evening and it's worth a share.  Everything just falls into place from the hardware, artful reel seat, wraps, and then topped off with a fly reel that just completes the outfit.

JP Ross wrote...  "This rod is inspired by the Dutch painting by Theo van Doesburg, called Contra-Composition XVI.  Theo was a painter in the early 1900's and made quite the splash with his new style and interpretation of shape and color on a canvas.

The best part of this collaboration was the interaction with our customer.  Check out the artist's signature and the complimentary thread wraps.  Some of these builds just get better and better based on what our customers desire.  Keep 'em coming.

The 7'6" 3-weight Snow Glass S-Glass blank was an awesome canvas for this build.  Exactly what we wanted to do with the white glass blank. This build as complimented with a platinum finish fly reel from Ross Reels."
