Redfish Photography Of Jason Stemple

Being based in South Carolina has it's advantages and since we hang around the Charleston area as much as possible I am meeting guides, photographers, and fishbums that spend the majority of their angling time in the grass flats looking for redfish.  There are worse ways to spend a day.

I am pleased to feature a few photographs from freelance photographer Jason Stemple in today's post.  Don't blame me if these snaps make you itchy for a day of hucking crab flies in front of tailing redfish.

Jason wrote... "The South Carolina Lowcountry has huge expanses of Spartina Marshes and countless waterways teeming with redfish for the fly-fisher to chase. Summer and fall lows mean belly crawlers and schooling fish pushing shrimp, while extra high tailing tides mean tails waving in the grass. In the winter we have huge schools gathered in crystal clear waters. It all amounts to lots of sight-fishing opportunities for the fly angler and a lot of great photo opportunities if you can suppress the urge to huck something at their faces. When they are showing really well, I try to shoot first cast later, but some times you just can't resist."
