This past summer while exploring some small with rod maker Chris Barclay and photog Dave Fason (circle back to the TFM post if you haven't read it already), we talked shop on his process of rod building, the efforts in keeping up with orders, and what the future held.
One of the things we discussed was moving towards a model where instead of every build being individually different, that he'd begin to build fly rods as "Maker's Choice" in batches to his own "aesthetics and design philosophy"...
I've said it before, Chris Barclay's focus on light line small stream technical fiberglass fly rods make these a must for angler who spends their time on blue lines, forgotten warmwater streams, and deep canyon creeks.
The Synthesis 68 that I have is an absolute delight and Synthesis 8-4 might be next add to my collection.
Learn more about the Synthesis Series line up and consider getting on the list for a build for 2021. He is currently offering the following models as "Maker's Choice" pre-orders...

Lastly, Chris has developed quite a following online and there is now a C. Barclay Fly Rod Co. Enthusiasts Group that you may want to ask to join as well.
