It's kind of surprising for me to look back in the archives of The Fiberglass Manifesto to find that the first mentions of Swift Fly Fishing and the Epic fiberglass blank project were in the fall of 2012. What a year it's been Carl McNeil and his "FastGlass" blank revolution.
When Carl and I first started trading emails, I really wasn't sure how these blanks would be received and if I would like them either as I am always just a bit suspicious when the word "fast" is paired with the word "fiberglass". Fast forward to the now and I have three of these fly rods in my personal collection which I purchased from three different "Certified 100% Epic" builders and another three demo fly rods which have been making their way around the U.S. being fished and cast by those interested in these blanks.
What's the final verdict? These are undoubtedly badass blanks and the rainbow of colors that these blanks are available in just make them that much more fun to build off of as well.
